This model is the Vanguards VA02621 Hillman Imp in the white livery of the Renfrewshire & Bute Police. As the Hillman Imp was built in Linwood, Scotland, it was a first choice vehicle for Panda duties in the area, with Renfrewshire & Bute Constabulary being one of the forces who chose the vehicle.
This limited edition model has some detailing and no opening parts. At the front there is a chromed bumper. Below this is the number plate [SHS 405M] in black text on white background. The front lights are represented by clear crystal lenses and the indicators and parking lights by tiny orange and silver painted panels. In the centre of the front is a yellow on Blue "POLICE" sign. Two chromed side mirrors are mounted on the front wings and two tiny photo-etched wipers grace the front windscreen. The "bonnet" hinges are picked out in silver. The sides carry a tampo printed Fluorescent Orange stripe just below the body line and the front doors are painted blue with the Constabulary insignia in white on black background, surrounded by white lettering that reads "Renfrew & Bute Constabulary". The doors are finished of with the door handles highlighted in silver. The roof has the obligatory blue roof light of the period. At the rear is another chromed bumper and the rear lights are represented by red and orange painted panels on cast features. The vehicle carries another blue and yellow "POLICE" sign on the rear engine cover above another horizontal orange line and the numberplate, centred over this line, is now black text on yellow background. Tampo printed on the rear luggage hatch is a small silver handle and lock.
The entire interior is black plastic with a right hand drive black plastic steering wheel set into the dashboard. The glazing is clear all round, with the driver's side window depicted as half open.
All wheels have solid, one piece grey plastic hubs with separate chrome "hub caps" and black rubber tyres.
The base plate is white painted metal and is marked with "Vanguards" in the centre top and "Hillman Imp" and "Singer Chamois" in the middle (either side of the centre undercarriage detail) and "LLEDO" at the centre bottom. The base plate casting also has minimalist front and rear suspension system, gearbox and linkages, and exhaust system. It is held in place with two machined rivets.
