This model is the Triang Minic 3110 Friction Fire Engine in red and orange. This item is plastic and has a flywheel friction drive.

The model has a diecast plastic body. It has been shaped with very rudimentary representations of the body lines. The cab and chassis are red plastic. The rear deck, housing representations of the  bell, hose reel, pumps, etc., is orange plastic. A grey plastic ladder fits to mountings on the rear. There is no glazing.

The original wheels are still on the model - one piece solid rubber hub and tyre style, mounted on either a plastic or a steel axle. The front wheels are a hard plastic mounted on a plastic axle which is clipped into the main chassis casting. The rubber rear driving wheels are shaped identical to the front wheels and the steel axle passes through the friction drive motor to power the vehicle, the flywheel being mounted inside the rear body.

There is no base plate. The underside of the casting carries the legend "Triang" and "Made in England", the friction drive has been press fitted to the body and the plastic body pins melted to hold it to the body.

I do not know exactly when this item was issued but believe it to be circa 1956.
