This model is the Triang Minic 3504 Army Crane in khaki. This item is plastic and has a flywheel friction drive.
The model has a diecast plastic body with operating crane jib. It has been shaped with rudimentary representations of the body lines. There is no glazing. The jib is operated by means of a basic wire lever. There is a small wire hook on the end of the jib.
The original black plastic front wheels are still on the model, mounted on a plastic axle. The rear driving wheels appear to be rubber, attached to a steel axle that passes through the friction drive motor to power the vehicle, the flywheel being mounted inside the body.
There is no base plate. The underside of the casting does not carry the legend "Triang" or "Made in England" like the other items I have, and the friction drive has been press fitted to the body and the plastic body pins melted to hold it to the body.
I do not know exactly when this item was issued but believe it to be between the 1950s and 1960s as it is shown in the 1955-56 Trade Catalogue.
