This model is the Triang Flat Truck in blue and cream with sack load. This item is plastic and has a flywheel friction drive.
The model has a diecast plastic body. It has been shaped with very rudimentary representations of the body lines. The cab and chassis are blue plastic. The rear sack load is cream plastic. There is no glazing.
The original wheels are still on the model - one piece metal hubs with separate rubber tyre, mounted on a steel axle. The rear driving wheels are identical to the front wheels and the steel axle passes through the friction drive motor to power the vehicle, the flywheel being mounted inside the rear body.
There is no base plate. The underside of the casting does not carry the legend "Triang" and "Made in England" as on some of my other Triang items, the friction drive has been press fitted to the body and the plastic body pins melted to hold it to the body.
I do not know exactly when this item was issued but believe it to be between the 1950s and 1960s.
