This is the Tootsietoy Navion Aeroplane issued between 1948 and 1953 in red.
This is thought by me to be the later version of the model with the closed window spaces. Other issues had open window spaces and I am assuming this open window die was produced first and the openings later filled in to make manufacturing and ejection from the die easier. It is a one piece casting with all detail such as window spaces, body trim, wing flaps and tail flaps cast into the metal. A separate cast 2 blade propeller is attached to the front of the nose with a pointed pin that passes through the propeller and into the body casting. There is no glazing or base to the model. On the under-side the model carries the legend "Made in U.S.A. Navion" cast on 2 lines under the left wing. The flat head stub axles pass through the two struts cast on the wings and the black rubber wheels into a hollow cast sleeve which holds them in place somehow.
