This is the Tootsietoy F-86 Sabre Jet issued in 1956 in red.

This is the later version of the model with one piece body casting. The earlier version has a two-piece body casting. This one piece casting has all detail such as window spaces, body trim, markings, wing flaps and tail flaps cast into the metal. There is no glazing or base to the model. On the wings the US "Star" insignia markings and "USAF" are cast on the upper side to the left and right respectively. On the under-side the model carries the legend "Tootsietoy ® U.S.A." cast under the body roof line. The domed axle passes through the two struts cast on the wings and the black rubber wheels appear to have been fitted before the axle ends were peened. The struts have been pressure clamped over the axle once it was fitted in place.
