This is the Tootsietoy #235 Oil Truck issued between 1940 and 1941 in red.

This is the earlier version of the model, produced prior to America's formal entry into World War II, with the white rubber wheels. Issues after the war had black rubber wheels. It is a one piece casting with all detail such as bumpers, lights, body lines and trim, number plates, etc. cast into the metal. This version has TWO caps cast on the top of the rear tank. There is no glazing or base to the model. On the under-side the model carries the legend "Tootsietoy Made in United States of America" cast under the tank area. The flat head axles pass through the body casting and wheels and are peened on the right hand side of this model.

This is the Tootsietoy #235 Oil Truck issued between 1947 and 1952 in yellow.

This is the later version of the model, produced after World War II, with the black rubber wheels and some casting changes. It is a one piece casting with all detail such as bumpers, lights, body lines and trim, number plates, etc. cast into the metal. This version has FOUR caps cast on the top of the rear tank and an additional THREE small lights on top of the cab. The rear tank has had doors and handles added on the rear surface (missing from earlier versions) and the cab door detail has been completely removed but door steps have been added to the casting below the door positions. The front headlights (prominent on the wheel guards on earlier models) are now flush with the shape of the wheel guard and the rear tank now has flush rear lights cast into the body sides. There is no glazing or base to the model. On the under-side the model carries the legend "Tootsietoy Made in United States of America" cast under the tank area but in the opposite direction to that on the earlier casting. The flat head axles pass through the body casting and wheels and are peened on the right hand side of this model.
