This model is the Technofix Mercedes Sedan Car in red. The item is tinplate and with clockwork drive.
The model has a one-piece, pressed metal body, 79mm in length. It has been shaped with rudimentary representations of the body lines. There is no glazing - all the features are lithographed onto the body. At the front are representations of the windows, head lights, and grille. The bonnet carries a lithographed bonnet emblem, all other detail being worn off. To the sides there are outlines of the doors. In each of the windows, front, rear and side, there may be profiles of the driver and passengers, but again the item is so worn it is not clear if this is the case. The rear carries a lithographed bumper and tailights and below the boot is a number plate with black lettering reading "GE 1960".
All four original wheels are present. The wheels are designed so the car could travel along a tinplate lithographed landscapere, in a track pressed into the metal. As I have no key I cannot determine if the clockwork drive works.
The base plate is a single piece, shaped, pressed tin unit. It has been press fitted to the body and the edges rolled to hold it over the edges of the body. It appears to be unplated or painted. There is no manufacturer's mark or country of origin detail.
I do not know exactly when this item was issued but believe it to be circa 1960.
