This model is the Matchbox Kingsize K9-A-2 Aveling Barford Road Roller in green.
This model has no opening parts. At the front is a red metal roller set into a moveable steering frame, to the rear are two more red metal rollers. All detail is cast into the body — top hood panels and body side panels, fuel tanks, seat and cab roof. On each side, toward the front is a red and white decal reading "Aveling Barford, Diesel Roller" and the decals also carry the Aveling Barford logo. In the cab sits a small, red plastic figure of the driver, behind a small, green painted, metal steering wheel.
There is no interior as such beyond the cab seat, driver, and steering wheel. As with the real vehicle, there is no glazing.
All wheels are cast metal, the front roller being a two piece casting and the rear rollers being one piece.
The base plate is green painted metal and is marked with Matchbox, Series, King Size, No 9 on four lines, to the front of the base, parallel to the axle, and "Aveling Barford Road Roller, Made in England by Lesney" on two lines to the rear, at right angles to the axle. It is held in place with two machined rivets at the front and a single body locating lug at the rear that also doubles as the tow ring. To the front of the base are two additional holes, immediately behind, and in line with, the rivets. It is not clear what the purpose of these holes is.
This model was issued between 1962 and 1967 when it was replaced by the Claas Combine Harvester.
