Matchbox - Bellair Cosmetics - "Matchbox" Soap Transporter

Over the years I have come across a number of different Matchbox items produced in conjunction with other businesses. Few of these have been recorded in any references that I can find. To make it easier to list them on this web site, I have simply used a generic term "Misc" and added my own personal database reference number, e.g. Item01046, Item01047, etc., as few of the items seem to carry an individual stock item number although, if found on the packaging, a stock number will be referenced.

Item 01786 — "Matchbox" Soap Transporter
This set of three soap models was produced, under licence from Matchbox, in England by Bellair Cosmetics, Winsford, Cheshire and carries a code number (4268) and bar code (45874 09249).

It contains an MB 17 London Bus in red, an MB20 Range Rover Police vehicle in yellow, and an MB59 Porsche 928 in blue.

The models have limited detailing. Each is packed in its own, vac-form shaped, clear plastic receptacle which is housed in a cardboard display box. The exterior face of the box is printed to represent an articulated car transporter carrying the "Matchbox" logo on the cab. Above the printed trailer is printed Camion remorque de Savon 'Matchbox' in red, and below the trailer is 'Matchbox' Soap Transporter in white. The left end of the box is printed as the front of the truck cab, the right end is printed as the trailer ramps and the top is printed as the trailer top ramp. The photos show all sides of the packaging and close-ups of the soaps.

The soaps are subject to oxidation due to their age, so I have wrapped my item with a polythene cling wrap product to prevent oxidation and further deterioration of the packaging due to moisture in the air reacting with the chemicals in the soaps.

Date of issue is unknown.
