This model is the Jordan & Lewden (River Series) Army Covered Lorry and Field Gun Set in Olive.
This simplistic casting is of a forward control lorry with detail cast into the body including the grille, the doors and handles, the body lines, front bumper and headlights. This is the first body casting with 10 lines cast into the lower grille area. The casting is in two parts, the main body and cab casting and the rear tray casting. A tinplate rear canopy slides into the rear tray to complete the model body. A tow hook has been added to facilitatethe attachment of the Field Gun.
There is no interior or glazing.
There is no base plate. The under side of the cab roof of this model is marked "Made in England" on two lines. It is devoid of all other marking or casting detail apart from the pillars that hold the axles in place. At the rear three cast metal rivets hold the rear body tray in place.
All wheels comprise a single piece, solid plastic/rubber hub and tyre shape. They have been pressure fitted to the steel axles. The cast pillars are pinch crimped to hold the axles in place.
The field gun appears to have been cast in three parts, the barrel, the trailer chassis, and the front shield. There are no identifying marks, other than "Made In England" cast to the rear of the shield. There is a spring and wire firing mechanism fitted to the barrel. The shield appears to be held to the chassis by two small rivets, and in turn it holds the gun barrel in place.
The wheels are, as on the truck, solid plastic hub and tyre shapes, press fitted to a steel axle that is pinch clamped to the shield casting.
This model was issued in the 1950s, possibly circa 1953.
