This model is the IXO Mitsubishi Lancer EVO VI in red in the livery of Team Mitsubishi Ralliart (Rally New Zealand 1999). Driven by Tommi Makinen with Risto Mannisenmaki as co-driver, the car took 1st place. Although Makinen was officially in Team Marlboro Mitusbishi Ralliart during the 1999 season the car was entered by Team Mitsubishi Ralliart, probably due to New Zealand's laws on advertising smoking products.
This model represents a rally version of the Mitsubishi Lancer EVO 6 and as such is adorned with various rally stickers and logos on the sides, doors, bonnet, boot and roof.
The model has no opening parts. Both front and rear bumpers and grill are part of the metal casting. The only additions to the casting appear to be the rear spoiler and roof aerial.
The interior is black plastic with a left hand drive black plastic steering wheel and rally safety frame and as such much of the detail is lost to the viewer. The glazing is clear with molded wipers at the front and both the driver's window and passenger window are "lowered" to the fully open position.
All wheels have simulated rally hubs - solid, one piece, white plastic with black "rubber" tyres.
The base plate is black plastic and is marked with "Made in China" just behind the front axles and "Mistubishi Lancer EVO VI 1/43" at the centre bottom. The base plate casting also has simulated drive shaft and exhaust system. It is held in place by two small self-tapping screws.
It is not known when this model was issued.
