This model is the Glam Toy Products GTP-579 4 Door Sedan Car in Red and White Ambulance livery.

The model has a one-piece, pressed metal body, 103mm in length. It has been shaped with rudimentary representations of the body lines. There is no glazing - all the features are litho-printed onto the body. At the front are representations of the windows driver and nurse, windscreen wipers, head lights, grille, and black number plate without lettering. The bonnet is white and it carries red lines for the outline and bonnet ornament/handle. To the sides outlines of the doors have been litho-printed below the appropriate windows with door handles positioned to give the impression the rear doors are "suicide" doors, i.e. they are hinged at the rear rather than to the middle of the vehicle. The right hand front window shows the profile of the driver and the left hand window shows the profile of the nurse. The lower sides are in white with red lines representing body trim . The roof is red with a white panel and red "AMBULANCE" lettering. It also carries a red cross in a white circle. The rear bears the legend "Made in England" in dark blue, immediately below the number plate, flanked by red lights, which is a dark blue outline with white background and dark blue "GTP 579" lettering. The rear also carries an outline of two full size doors with windows, outlined in blue, 4 hinges and two handles.

The original two part, pressed tin wheels are still on the model, mounted on steel axles with crimped ends.

The base plate is a single piece, flat, pressed tin unit. It has been press fitted to the body and the edges rolled to hold it over the edges of the body. It has not been plated or painted. There are no manufacturer's marks or country of origin details on the base.

I do not know exactly when this item was issued but believe it to be between 1950 and 1959.
