This model is the Glam Toy Products GTP-522 Racing Car in Dark Grey and Red with racing number "8".
The model has a one-piece, pressed metal body, 140mm in length, making it longer than the other cars (103mm and 130mm). It has been shaped with rudimentary representations of the body lines. There is no glazing - all the features are litho-printed onto the body. At the front are representations of the grille and number plate [GTP 522], the bonnet is red and has black body trim shaped to represent the air scoop. To the sides there are lithographed exhaust pipes. The covered wheel arches are in dark grey with a single black curved line representing body trim. In the cockpit area there are raised bumps to represent the windscreen, driver's head, and headrest. Both the bonnet and rear body carry the racing number "8" in black inside a dark grey circle The rear does not bear the legend "Made in England" as on other models by this manufacturer, but carries "Made in England" just below the right hand side exhaust. The rear does carry a red and black circular design and a black number plate with grey lettering reading "G.T.P. 522".
The original two part, pressed tin wheels are still on the model, mounted on steel axles with crimped ends.
The base plate is a single piece, pressed tin unit with a strengthening panel down the centre. It has been press fitted to the body and the edges rolled to hold it over the edges of the body and it appears to have been plated. There are no manufacturer's marks or country of origin details on the base.
I do not know exactly when this item was issued but believe it to be between 1950 and 1959.
