This model is the Elmont Toys Compressor Truck in green and red.
The lorry is a flatbed style vehicle with no opening parts to the vehicle. It has a sign board above the cab that reads "Elmont Compressor" and comes with a die-cast plastic compressor and air tanks on the rear. The red compressor housing opens to reveal the silver plastic "compressor" inside.
The model was produced in the 50s or 60s and so has no interior or glazing. It is powered by a friction drive motor that is partly housed in side the compressor load.
All wheels are of a smooth hub type - unpainted, one piece metal with black "rubber" tyres. The hubs have been fitted onto the axles by means of a spline which holds the hubs in place.
There is no base plate but the interior of the lorry cab is imprinted with "Elmont Toys" on the left hand side, below what would be the cab of the lorry, and "Made in England Pat. Pend." on the right hand side below the cab.
This model was issued some time in the 1950s or 1960s. is known the dies came to New Zealand in the 1950s as the Lincoln Toys versions appeared in their 1953 catalogue. Like a lot of plastic toys of the period they are known to suffer from warping of the body.
Others known to have been produced in the "Gyro Transport Series" are shown below.
