This model is the Dinky 917-G-2 Guy Otter Van in Red and Yellow "Heinz" livery. This is Code 3 item, hand repainted and using third party reproduction Heinz decals with ketchup bottle.
The model features a red cast metal cab and chassis with a yellow cast rear body with opening doors and black tin base. The grille and headlights are picked out in silver paint and there is no glazing in the windows. The rear body is yellow with the Heinz 57 Varieties decal in blue with red ketchup bottle on both sides.
All wheels are yellow "Supertoy" hubs with separate black rubber tyre. There is a spare wheel on the chassis.
The base plate is actually the chassis casting and it is red painted metal with Dinky Supertoys in the middle followed by "GUY". Underneath in a separate panel is "Made in England" on line one followed by "Meccano Ltd" on line two. It is fixed through the use of machined rivets to the rear body casting. There is a separate tin base to the cab area.
The original model was issued between 1955 and 1956. I do not know when this Code 3 item was made.
