This model is the Dinky 36b-G-5 Bentley in Green and Black. This item has been restored and repainted.
The model features no opening parts, all features are cast into either the body casting or the base casting, with the exception of the front bumper, grille, and headlights which are cast as a separate component. At the front is the separate cast grille, headlights, and bumper casting which is normally fixed into the body casting by means of a split rivet fixing. On this model the casting appears to have been glued somehow to the body casting. The engine cover is cast to show detail such as the hinges and side louvres. To the sides are cast outlines for the doors and handles. The front and rear wheel arches, side lights, and side running boards are cast into the base casting.
There is no interior or glazing on this model.
All wheels are of the shaped cast metal type - solid one piece cast metal hubs, painted black, with a separate black "rubber" tyre. They are fixed to steel axles that pass through the upper body casting and are crimped on both ends.
The base plate is black painted metal and has a rudimentary representation of the gearbox, drive shaft and rear differential cast upon it. It is held to the body by the axles - the front axle passes under the front of the base, while the rear axle passes through the base casting as well as the upper body casting. The base is marked "Dinky Toys" on two lines under the left running board, and "Made in England, By Meccano Ltd" on two lines in tiny text, under the right running board.
This item was issued between 1946 and 1948.
