This model is the Dinky 030e-G-x Breakdown Lorry in Blue and black. Unlisted by Dr. Edward Force (pg 153, "Dinky Toys, Revised 7th Edition" by Dr. Edward Force, published by Schiffer Publishing Ltd [ISBN 978 0 764 3319 4]), it is mentioned by the Richardsons (pg 50, "The Great Book of Dinky Toys" by Mike & Sue Richardson, published 2000 by New Cavendish Books [ISBN 1 82727 83 2]).

The model features no opening parts, all features are cast into the body casting. At the front the grille is picked out in silver. The cab shows cast body lines, foot steps, and doors, and has a window opening at the rear of the cab, making this an early version. The rear body has cast planking sides, but the cast searchlight and crane assembly that sits on the rear deck, fixed by means of an machined rivet, is missing from this model. There is no interior or glazing on this model. The front and rear wheel arches, and running boards are details molded into the lower part of the body casting.

All wheels are of the smooth cast metal type - solid one piece cast metal hubs, painted black, with a separate black "rubber" tyre on a steel crimped axle.

There is no base plate on this model. However, the underside of the body casting carries the legend Meccano at the centre top and "Made in England" at the centre bottom. "Dinky Toys" is cast parallel to the rear of the rear axle on two lines.

This item was issued between 1935 and 1940, evidenced by the open rear cab window opening. Later versions had closed rear cab windows. The breakdown lorries were sold in trade boxes and not individually packaged.
