This model is the Corgi Cubs R507-1 Petrol Tanker in yellow and red "Shell" livery. This is the first issue with black tank caps and red interior, and comes in a cardboard Corgi box without display window.
The model has a single body casting with no opening parts. The headlights and front bumper are molded into the plastic base as are the tail lights and rear bumper. The bonnet, cab, and tank are cast in metal. The model carries a red on yellow label with the Shell Logo and "Shell tanker" on both sides.
The interior is red plastic with a right hand drive, red plastic steering wheel inserted into the red dashboard (instrument panel). The cab has clear glazing.
All wheels are of the "Speedster" type - hollow one piece plastic wheels with chromed hub caps.
The base plate is red plastic and is marked with "Corgi Cubs" and "Patent Applied For" on two lines to the centre middle, and "Made in Gt. Britain" on a single line behind the rear axle. The base is held to the upper body with six machined rivets.
The Corgi Cubs items were issued between 1976 and 1977.
