This model is identical to the Corgi C576-01 Mercedes 207D Van in Red, Blue and White Pepsi livery, except it has no Pepsi logos! It has therefore been coded C576-01-b for the purposes of being included in my collection. The item was purchased in the late 1980s in a standard blue Corgi "Roadmarking" box and marked 576/08.
The van body is basically white with a blue lower side panel (from just above the wheel arches to the bottom of the body) and a red roof. The model has no opening parts other than the two rear doors and one passenger (right hand) side parcel door. The front headlights are silver set into a black plastic component that represents the van grill and headlight area. The front bumper and numberplate are actually part of the baseplate. The rear has cast impressions to represent the rear lights and number plate with the lights highlighted with an alternative red colour.
The entire interior is black plastic with the steering wheel being part of the interior casting. The glazing is clear and is applied to the front doors and windscreen only. The rear doors are unglazed.
All wheels are of the "speed wheel" type - hollow one piece plastic with a chrome, 7 dot shaped center "hub".
The base plate is black plastic and is marked with "CORGI" in the centre top, "Mercedes-Benz 207D" in the middle just below the driveshaft, and "Made in GT Britain" at the centre bottom. The baseplate carries simple moulded representations of the suspension, gearbox, driveshaft and differential, and exhaust system. It is held in place with four machined rivets.
This model was issued some time between March 1986 and August 1988. Its scale was stated to be 1/43.
