This model is the Tesco Auto Club/Corgi 567-B-1 Rangerover in white VSD livery. This model was produced specifically for sale in Tesco stores in the UK around 1986 and was packed in special Tesco "Speed Champions" Auto Club boxes. The vehicle represents (although not accurately) the vehicles used in the Paris Dakar Rally and may be intended to represent the No. 212 VSD vehicle that was the winner of the PARIS DAKAR 1981 rally (R. METGE + B. GIROUX)
This model has the racing number 212 on the roof and VSD markings on the bonnet, doors and rear wings, just behind and above the rear wheel arches. It is a standard Rangerover whereas the rally vehicle has a shorter wheel base and no windows above the rear wheels.
It has a fixed bonnet, but has opening side doors at the front and twin opening hatches at the rear. The front and rear wings contain red plastic inserts, representing the indicators.
The entire interior is black plastic with a right hand drive black plastic steering wheel. The glazing is clear.
All wheels are of the "speed wheel" type - hollow one piece plastic with a "chromed" six spoke center "hub".
The base plate is black plastic and is marked with "Made in GT Britain" over the front axle and "corgi" in the centre top and "Range Rover" at the centre bottom. It is held in place with four rivets.
This model was issued around 1986 and sold only in Tesco stores.
