This model is the Mazda B1600 Pickup with detachable Camper rear in red and white. The vehicle is red with a white detachable camper rear.
There are no opening parts on the pickup. The main pickup casting is in one piece with the pickup cab guard (behind the cab) a separate metal casting. The grill and lights are part of the base plate with lights and number plate picked out in silver.
The camper unit detaches from the pickup by means of a clever plastic mechanism at the rear that doubles as the rear legs of the camper unit. The camper body is metal with a plastic interior and has a red plastic door that opens. The camper legs, while shown on the rear of the box to be red plastic, are in this case black plastic.
The interior of the pickup is black plastic with a right hand drive black plastic steering wheel. The interior of the camper unit is all red plastic. The glazing, on both camper and pickup, is clear.
All wheels are of the "speed wheel" type - hollow one piece plastic with a "chromed" simulated center "hub".
The base plate is black plastic and is marked with "SCALE 1/36" at the front of the front axle housing, "Made in GT Britain" at the centre top, "corgi" in the centre middle, "Mazda B1600 Pickup" at the centre bottom and "Patent No. 1278081" at the rear. It is held in place with five rivets.
This model was issued between June 1976 and 1978.
