This model is the Corgi 277-A-1 Monkee Mobile in Fire Engine Red. It is a Code 3 restoration of an original model and comes without original packaging.
There are no opening parts on this model. It comes with an exposed engine and a figures of the band members. At the front, the lights and grille are represented by silver cast metal that is part of the engine casting. Above them the bonnet has been cut open to expose the chromed/silver engine. To the sides, further engine detail representing the exhaust system can be seen through the front wheel arches, and the Monkees logo (a stylised guitar spelling the word "Monkees") appears on both front doors. The roof is white and textured. At the rear is a silver dragster parachute flanked by yellow panels.
The interior is yellow plastic with a left hand drive grey plastic steering wheel. A plastic figure of Davy Jones grips the steering wheel. The other band members are sitting as passengers in the front and rear of the vehicle (although currently Mickey Dolenz has gone AWOL). The glazing is clear at the front, this being the only glazed window in the car.
All wheels are of a shaped type - solid one piece cast metal hubs with an 8 spoke pattern, painted gold, each with a separate black "rubber" tyre. The front wheels are smaller than the rear wheels.
The base plate is fire engine red painted metal and is marked with CORGI TOYS at the centre top on two lines, "Monkeemobile" to the centre bottom, "Patent No 904525" on two lines to the top rear, and "Made in Gt. Britain" on two lines to the bottom rear. It also carried a detailed representation of the front suspension, lower engine, gearbox, drive shaft, rear differential, petrol tank, and exhaust system. The base plate is held in place with two machined rivets.
This model was issued between December 1968 and 1972, in an unstated scale, and over 82,000 were sold.
