This model is the Corgi 223-A-1 Chevrolet Impala State Patrol Car in black. This version is missing all the decals.
There are no opening parts on this model. The front lights, grille, and bumper are represented by mask sprayed silver paint, above a, possibly later Accessories addition, silver on black number plate [CRI 97]. The side trim, rear bumpers, and rear lights are also picked out in silver, with the rear lights also being coated with red paint. The rear number plate [CRI 97} is also silver on black and a possible later Accessories addition. All "State Patrol" decals are missing although it retains the rear grey plastic aerial.
The interior is a yellow plastic vac-form with a left hand drive silver plastic steering wheel. The glazing is clear all round, the front windscreen sporting a "tax/registration" label, probably also added later from an Accessories pack.
All wheels are of the smooth type - solid one piece metal hubs with a separate white "rubber" tyre (more suited to a Dinky model, and probably added by a previous owner), fitted to steel axles.
The base plate is grey painted metal and is marked with CORGI TOYS at the centre top on two lines, "Chevrolet, Impala" in the centre middle on two lines, and "Patent Application 21101/59" in tiny text at the centre bottom. The base has the diamond pattern over the rear axle and, at right angles behind this, it reads "Made in, Gt. Britain" on two lines. The base plate is held in place with three machined rivets.
This model was issued between 1959 and 1965.
