This model is the Corgi 00502 Ford Zephyr 6 Mk III in white Police livery. This model was released to commemorate the classic BBC TV Series "Z Cars" which first appeared in 1962 and ran for 16 years. The Mark III Zephyr 6 itself was produced from 1962 to 1966.
The model has no opening parts. It has a blue plastic roof light and "Police" identification roof board, chromed front and rear bumpers and grill. The model comes with factory fitted, tiny, metal windscreen wipers and chromed internal rear vision mirror, door handles and rear light surrounds. The front headlights are represented by clear plastic lenses. A separate sprue containing the chromed side mirrors, which are to be fitted by the purchaser to the front wings of the model, is supplied also.
The interior is red plastic with a right hand drive black plastic steering wheel and black plastic dashboard. The glazing is clear with a silver trim all round. The body has a single black Police logo on the bonnet.
All wheels have simulated chrome hubs - solid, one piece plastic with simulated hub caps and separate black "rubber" tyres.
The base plate is black painted metal and is marked with "CORGI" at the centre top and "Zephyr 4 / Zephyr 6" at the centre bottom. The base plate casting also has cast drive shaft, transmission and exhaust systems. It is held in place with two tiny self tapping screws that are beautifully hidden beneath two small plastic caps on the base plate.
This model was issued in 2000.
